Senior Solicitor – Reading Office – reporting to Head of Private Client.

 

Qualifications & Training

A qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or Member of STEP with prior experience in Private Client.  We do not tend to use PQE as the sole measure of experience, but we are ideally seeking somebody with at least 5 years’ experience in managing their own caseload of private client matters and with experience of supporting junior members of staff.

 

Summary of role purpose

Experienced Senior Solicitor, FCILEX or TEP to join our Reading Private Client Team.

The firm works with various individuals, handling everything from simple wills to high-net-worth estates, elderly client matters and tax planning.  Experience across the full range of private client work to provide quality advice to clients in a professional and personable manner.  Overall responsibility for maintaining and developing the Team in Reading.  Working strategically with senior leadership and staff to maximise existing professional connections and to support the firm in business development.  The position will provide an excellent opportunity for further professional development and growth.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle a full and broad private client caseload.
  • Managerial responsibilities to include leading a division within the Private Client Department.
  • Supervision, mentoring and coaching other members of staff to include Junior lawyers, Trainees and Support Staff.
  • Continue to develop and enhance the firm’s already very good private client reputation.
  • Build and maintain strategic connections with other professionals including accountants, financial advisers and care agencies to provide holistic advice for your client.
  • Working closely with the Head of Private Client to expand the commercial aims of the department with leads, new business and optimisation between the teams.
  • Ensuring compliance requirements for the LEXCEL and ISO accreditations are met.
  • To be a real team player and enjoy working in a collaborative manner.

 

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Considerable relevant work experience in all areas of Private Client work.
  • A team-focused mindset.
  • Experience of working in a busy and fast paced environment managing a large caseload independently whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop strong and long-lasting relationships with your clients, colleagues and referrers.
  • Proactive problem solver with strong communication skills and ability to instil confidence with a wide variety of clients.
  • Passion for supporting your clients and helping them achieve their goals in an empathetic and friendly manner.
  • Experience in marketing and business development activities for the team and the firm.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Proven financial record and commercial attitude.

Desirable

  • Membership from an affiliated group such as STEP and/or The Association of Lifetime Lawyers.

 

Salary will be competitive and appropriate to experience.
