Covid-19: A Guide to Our Current Remote Working Processes

“This is not going to business as usual, it’s going to be business as unusual.” Sebastian Coe

Due to Covid 19, we have had to make some changes to the way we work, your well-being and that of our staff is a priority.  Change can be unsettling but change can also be a good thing and here at Rowberry Morris, we like to focus on the positives.  Let’s look at what’s changed!

Meetings:-

  • We are not currently offering face to face meetings, but we are still available on the phone and via various video conferencing platforms.
  • You now get to speak to us, in the comfort of your own home! You still receive the same level of service, we will still follow up in writing and you still receive complete access to all areas of service Rowberry Morris has to offer!

Court Hearings:-

  • The courts are still proceeding with hearings but to protect you, us and court staff, a lot of them are being conducted remotely, by telephone or video link.  The hearings will only be conducted in person if it is absolutely necessary to do so.
  • During a telephone hearing, you may be able to dial in and hear the Judge speaking or your solicitor or barrister may dial in on your behalf, make representations and feed back to you, then dial in to the Judge again, with your instructions.
  • With a telephone hearing, you don’t have to see your ex-spouse/partner, you will just hear them.  With a video hearing, you will see everyone but you have the benefit of sitting in the comfort of your home, whilst your representatives do the hard work for you.
  • You will still get to have a private 121 telephone/video conference with your barrister/solicitor before and after the hearing.  Where possible, some hearings are being dealt with on paper only, and there are some hearings that are being adjourned.
  • A real positive, however, is that all the court papers relevant to your case must be scanned across, no more paper files in the post, very environmentally friendly!

Our working patterns:-

  • Given that the entire country is now working from home, (unless you are a key worker or it is impossible for you to do so) we want to make sure we keep healthy and remain fighting fit, to be there for you.
  • For this reason, you might see out of office responses when you email us, that’s just to let you know we are having a little break and will revert to you as soon as we are done, never too long.  You may receive emails outside the usual standard office hours, we hope that is ok.

Nothing else has changed. We know things are uncertain right now but one thing you can be sure of is that we will guide you through the process and maintain the highest levels of professionalism throughout.  There is no compromise on that.  We are literally at the other end of the phone. If you need us, just call or email.
