Civil partnership is a legally recognised union with rights similar to those of marriage, created originally for same-sex couples in jurisdictions where they were not legally allowed to marry.
Civil Partnership is now available to all couples regardless of their sexuality and offer many of the same benefits as marriage.
Pre and Post Nuptial Agreements can be considered to protect you and your partner in the same way as they would during a marriage. However the dissolution of a civil partnership remains a slightly different procedure to that of a divorce.
